Discover Harshil Valley

Himalayan Sanctuary

A Sacred & Scenic Journey Through The Apple Realm of Uttarakhand

Tucked away in the Bhagirathi river valley at an altitude of 2,620 meters, Harshil Valley is one of Garhwal’s best-kept secrets. Known for its pristine pine forests, gushing glacier rivers, traditional wooden houses, and sprawling apple orchards, Harshil offers an unrivaled retreat into raw Himalayan beauty.

Beyond its idyllic tranquility, Harshil serves as the vital gateway to Gangotri Dham, Mukhba Village (the winter seat of Goddess Ganga), the thermal springs of Gangnani, Dharali, and optional treks towards Yamunotri Dham. Experience spiritual awakening and untamed mountain vistas in total comfort with CAB4SURE.

Harshil - The Serene Apple Valley

Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, dense deodar forests, and the sparkling Bhagirathi River, Harshil is often referred to as the Mini Switzerland of Garhwal. Famed for introducing sweet apples to the region through Frederick Wilson in the 19th century, it is a haven for nature lovers and peace seekers.

Take relaxing walks across wooden bridges, interact with local villagers, visit ancient Tibetan settlements in Jalandhari Valley, and wake up to mountain breezes.

Gangotri Dham - The Sacred Source

Situated at 3,100 meters altitude, Gangotri is one of the revered Chota Char Dham shrines dedicated to Goddess Ganga. According to Hindu mythology, this is where King Bhagirath meditated to bring the holy river Ganga down to Earth from Lord Shiva’s locks.

The white granite temple on the banks of Bhagirathi exudes intense spiritual energy, offering a soul-stirring experience during evening Aarti rituals amidst chanting Himalayan winds.

Dharali - Picturesque Riverside Village

Located just 3 km from Harshil, Dharali is a scenic hamlet sitting right on the banks of the river Bhagirathi. Renowned for its fragrant organic apple orchards, rajma cultivation, and ancient Shiva temple with traditional Pahadi architecture.

Legend holds that Bhagirath performed severe penance here to bring Ganga to Earth. It offers peaceful riverfront trails and authentic Garhwali homestay experiences.

Mukhba - Winter Abode of Goddess Ganga

Located directly opposite Harshil across the river, Mukhba is a quaint village that serves as the official winter home for Goddess Ganga when Gangotri Temple closes due to heavy snow during winters.

The idol of Maa Ganga is brought down here in a grand festive procession. Visitors can explore beautifully carved wooden temples and soak in authentic mountain culture year-round.

Gangnani - Sacred Thermal Hot Springs

Located en route to Harshil from Uttarkashi, Gangnani is famous for its natural hot sulfur springs known as ‘Rishikund’. Pilgrims take a holy dip here to cleanse their body and soul before heading to Gangotri Dham.

The sulfur-rich water is believed to have medicinal properties that relieve fatigue and skin ailments, set against stunning views of snow-clad mountains.

Yamunotri & Janki Chatti - Sacred Pilgrimage

For travelers opting for extended Char Dham packages, Janki Chatti serves as the main base camp for the trek to Yamunotri Dham. Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, Yamunotri is the first stop in the traditional pilgrimage circuit.

Trek 6 km along mountain trails, witness the steaming Surya Kund hot springs where rice is cooked as prasad, and seek divine blessings at the ancient temple.
